First Bike
Kawasaki 500 HIR purpose built by an aircraft engineer. A beautifully built bike but just so slow returning me times of 13 to 14 seconds.
Second Bike
This
one I built myself. An RD250 frame with a 1971 TR350 race motor, electronic
Ignition, expansion chambers and big carbs. Best time at Teretonga in 1981 was
12.5 sec. The bike also won the New Zealand Standing Quarter in 1981-82 at
Kirkdrain Road, Momona, Dunedin.
Third Bike
This was a 1980 Suzuki GSX 1100 which was basically standard with good cams and wheelie bars. Best time 11.2 and 115 mph set at Ruapuna (Christchurch) 1986.
