Formally if its to be a backed up for record you need to do 2 passes.
What about the FIRST non nitro bike in NZ to run a 7.59 pass and 170mph....no one has done that....and it will make the fastest bike in the country to date...

Actually theres no one gone quicker in NZ than an 8.0 on a NON NITRO bike...yet so thats got to be the challange and do it TWICE...not once!

Hi
This is just a private prize put up by myself.
I could have made it the first to set a NZDRA record in the 7's but
as you stated that would mean doing two passes and it being at a NZDRA
"National Meeting".
But I want to keep it simple and recognize the first all motor pass in the sevens..even if it is
only a single pass it a milestone I think needs celebrating.
As for a "non nitro" bike....what can I say...I like "all motor" and thats what I
want to reward.
Maybe everyone in the double letter classes can get on board with Dean's AA/DB prize idea.
Thanks
Richard
P.S...What was the turn out bike wise at Ruapuna?

Hi
Forgot to add that the NZDRA will reward the first person to do two passes "all motor" in the 7's
by giving them the record.
I just want to see that first 7's pass.

Ummm, actually, faster and quicker runs have both been run in NZ: Barry Sproule ran 7.47 on the Hays Racing Nitro Harley a couple of years ago. And Ross Buchanan ran 177.9mph on the same bike a year or two before that. Both runs were at Meremere. See Barry's run here:

Actually........Martin Peck ran 7.95 when he got his 8.04 record on a NON NITRO bike.( It was nitrous so not ALL MOTOR )It's been done Phil so give it up. The first ALL MOTOR pass is the one we want to see. The fact that a 7.47 was run on the nitro harley is good enough, record or no record it has been done, and it does count because it is on a real timeslip made of real paper done with real timing gear on a real track!!!!!!!!!. As for the all motor 7....bring it on! Thanks Richard for putting this up. I am sure the recipient will deserve it through hard work, determination, and racing on the track instead of a forum.

Does that mean your 8.03 "doesn't stand"? I don't think so. I didn't see your 8.03, but I have no doubt you did it, so as far as I'm concerned "it stands". However, I did see both Barry's and Ross' runs, and they both "stand" as well!

Great move Richard. Good on you for giving our sport a helping hand. I may have to get new plugs and take the air filter out and have a go at this on my zx9 !!!!

New plugs, now there's a thought. But for really top performance, you don't have to put new plugs in EVERY year, do you

New plugs is just a myth propagated by spark plug manufacturers. You need to go on a plug rotation program.
Buy one extra plug and keep it under a pyramid. Then whenever you feel like giving your motor a "Birthday" take out all the plugs and move them along one cylinder. Now put the plug that has been rejuvenated from the pyramid into the first cylinder and put the plug that came from the last cylinder under the pyramid ready for next time.
I hope word of this doesn't get out to our sponsors "Fram Autolite". They might ban me. But if it helps to make racing more affordable for us it is worth the risk.
Maybe next time we will have to bust some of those other myths. Like changing oil and replacing head gaskets!

Thanks for that Dean. I will give it a go!!. Think of the savings too. I may do that with my tyres as well as it seems to work on our 4 wheel distant land crab cousins well.Where can I get a pyramid from ???

How big does the pyramid have to be?
Does it have to be made by slaves?
Does it have to be located in a desert?
